F.U.E.L. Sabbath Retreat

September 19-21, 2008, Wa-Floy Retreat Center, Gatlinburg, TN
A retreat for youth mentor volunteers and church staff

Running on empty?  Need to be re-fueled by God?  Be filled with God's Spirit by honoring Sabbath.  God has told us to do so and has created us to need it.  Come to the Sabbath Retreat and rest in God, letting God provide you with F.U.E.L. for the journey.

Jim Lewis, youth pastor at Hixson UMC in Chattanooga, TN, will provide our spiritual direction.  Anna Denison of Knoxville, TN, will lead our worship music.

You'll engage a variety of spiritual practices that will serve as a means of God's grace to pour out on you.  You'll learn spiritual practices that you can teach to your youth.  And you'll enjoy the fellowship of other youth workers and communion in the Body of Christ.

The retreat features:
+ Resting in God
+ Spiritual renewal, refreshment, re-creation, and inspiration with worship
+ Engaging in spiritual practices, e.g., lectio divina, praying over Scripture, meditation, labyrinth, a pilgrimage hike, and others - for you and to learn to take back to your youth
+ Communing together as the Body of Christ
+ Table fellowship
+ The beauty and serenity of God's creation found in the fall colors of our retreat setting.
+ Networking and sharing ideas and experiences with other youth workers
+ Opportunities for Q&A and idea-sharing.

"The best part was the atmosphere, the people, and the scenery. It was the most relaxed learning experience I have ever had."  ~ Tracy, Wytheville District

F.U.E.L. is the Youth Worker Training and Renewal Ministry of the Conference Council on Youth Ministries of the Holston Conference of The United Methodist Church.  A workshop model of training is conducted each spring. A Sabbath retreat is held each fall. Both events provide excellent opportunities for networking (that is, being "connectional") and sharing ideas about youth ministry. F.U.E.L. is open to anyone who mentors youth in Jesus Christ, whether you are paid or volunteer youth workers, youth ministers, youth pastors, youth Sunday School teachers, or pastors.
